Wandering in Banff

Banff is a picturesque town, full of charms to the wanderer.  As my last post on our trip, here are some pictures taken of the town on a number of walks over a few days.

Banff Avenue:

Wildlife makes itself at home everywhere here (or, perhaps more accurately, we’ve taken up in their former home):

These from an afternoon hike along and around the Bow River:

The Fairmont Banff Springs:

That’s a wrap from seven days in Banff National Park.  Lake Louise and the Bow River Parkway were magnificent.   Sulphur Mountain and the views it affords were breathtaking.  The food and drink were sublime.

The trip was really surprising.  Going into it, we knew were would be surrounded by mountains and we had read about the physical beauty of nature we’d experience.  Through that, this trip left its mark on me.  For seven days, I was wide-eyed with the beauty around me and am already dreaming of a longer road trip through the Rockies and western Canada.  Thanks to Alberta for reminding me of how much I have to see in my own country.
